In the racket sport of tennis, players can compete against a single opponent (singles) or against two teams of two players each (doubles). A felt-covered hollow rubber ball is struck over or over a net and into the other player's court by each player using a tennis racket strung with a cable. Manipulating the ball so that the opponent cannot play a legitimate return is the aim of the game. The opposing player will score a point if the player is unable to return the ball in a legitimate manner. Tennis is accessible to people of all ages and all classes, and anyone who can grip a racket, including those in wheelchairs, can play.
